Real buildings, real challenges, real solutions. Here's what we've been up to – from napkin sketches to ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

Honestly, this one was tricky. The clients wanted Lake Ontario views without feeling like they're living in a fishbowl. We ended up designing these staggered balconies that give everyone privacy but still catch those sunset views. The whole thing's wrapped in reclaimed wood panels that age beautifully – they'll look even better in 10 years than they do now.

"We were blown away by how they balanced our needs with environmental concerns. The passive cooling system alone has cut our AC costs by 60%."
— Margaret Chen, Property Developer

This project was all about flexibility. Tech companies grow fast, shrink fast, pivot fast – so we designed a space that can basically reconfigure itself. The structural columns are the only permanent bits. Everything else? Movable walls, modular utilities, plug-and-play infrastructure. Plus, we snuck in a rooftop garden that's become the most popular lunch spot in Waterloo.
"Our team productivity jumped after moving here. Natural light everywhere, spaces that actually make sense – it's like they read our minds."
— David Park, CEO StartupLabs
Sometimes the best projects aren't about building new – they're about reimagining what's already there.
Toronto's Distillery District Extension
We took three abandoned brick warehouses from the 1890s and turned them into mixed-use spaces without losing their character. The trick was respecting the bones – those exposed brick walls have stories. We just gave them better insulation, new windows that match the originals, and modern systems hidden in the old loading bays.
Challenge: Heritage preservation requirements
Solution: Reversible interventions & period-appropriate materials
Mississauga Mixed-Use Development
This 1980s office park was dying a slow death – bad layout, worse energy performance. Instead of demo'ing it, we stripped it down and rebuilt it as a live-work-play space. Added balconies, punched in bigger windows, threw a green roof on top. Now it's got retail on ground level, offices in the middle, and residential units up top.
Challenge: 70% reduction in energy use required
Solution: High-performance envelope & geothermal heating

Hamilton gave us a challenge: turn an old industrial waterfront into a community gathering space that doesn't feel like every other waterfront development. We spent weeks just walking the area, talking to locals. What we built reflects that – a library, maker space, and cafe that actually connects to the neighborhood instead of replacing it.

"Finally, a public space that feels like it was designed for actual people. My kids are there every weekend."
— Sandra Williams, Local Resident
